This week’s adjective is

Frugal means sparing or economical as regards money or food; or simple, plain or costing little.

Its synonyms include thrifty, economical, saving, careful, and meagre.  It is not the same as being selfish or a miser.

Example sentences:

  1. As she prepares to retire next year, she has been frugal in his spending; preferring not splurge in fancy clothings.
  2. As I came from humble beginnings, I am used to frugal meals.
  3. I have been living on a shoestring budget and can write a book on frugal living.
  4. As a gracious host, Marianne made sure she did not serve her guest frugal meals.
  5. After losing his job due to the pandemic, he had to lead a frugal lifestyle.
  6. I have always been a frugal person because I want to save up for a house.
