WOTW #23 kempt

After a break of a week, we continue our adjective series with the letter k.

Kempt is used to described something has been kept in a neat and clean condition; well cared for.

Example sentences:

  1. Despite working overnight on the business proposal, she showed up surprisingly kempt to start the meeting with the client.
  2. My father kept his garden kempt and tidy all the time.
  3. Despite cooking for a large extended family, my mother has always had a kempt kitchen. I don’t know how she does it.
  4. With the help of hair products, the actress’s hair is still kempt despite having to brave a storm and fight off three bad guys.
  5. I could not find any dry leaves for the my art project at the Windsor Castle because the well-kempt gardens there are swept daily.
  6. The well-kempt exterior of the mansion hides the dark secrets of betrayal behind those walls.

 

The word kempt is less popular than its antonym, unkempt.
